Parasitology
CVRL’s parasitology team works with parasites to understand how and why they interact with different animals, and the diseases they cause.
The department of Parasitology provides diagnosis of parasite development stages in animal samples (faeces, blood, skin scrapings, biopsies and post mortem materials), animal food (alfalfa, concentrates, supplements) and water samples. We also diagnose domestic pests and vermins.
The department of Parasitology possesses the largest parasite collection in the region and exchanges materials world-wide.
Apart from routine diagnostic work, the department has research activities concentrated on applied parasitology, epidemiology of parasitic infections, parasite fauna of different hosts in the UAE, as well as on helminth life cycles. In addition, the parasitology department is involved in the production of diagnostic test kits.
